If you are like me, you are looking for some dog mom activities to pass the extra time while trying to steer clear of civilization or self isolation. I found out today, our school district has extended our break for another month due to certain circumstances ( errrrrr. think virus) I thought it would be fun for me to list 15 Fun Dog Mom Activities if you are stuck at home you can do with your pooch, for your pooch or for other dogs in need if you find yourself stuck at home for any situation.
Dog Mom Activities
Make a Snuffle Ball
1) Make a Snuffle Treat Ball for your dog. Dogs love to hunt and forage and this is the PERFECT toy to help provide some fun enrichment for your dog. If you are crafty, you are likely to have all of the materials needed at your house. Get our Free Guide!
Donate Graphic Design
2) Great at Graphic design? Reach out to a local rescue. They are ALWAYS in need of fun graphics for their website and social media! I’ve done work for PAWS for Irving Rescue for years. Dog mom activities for doing the most good!
Grooming
3) Catch up on grooming. Don’t forget to keep those nails trimmed on FIDO!
Scrapbook Time
4) Thinking about putting together a scrapbook? Get to printing out some pictures of your fur baby and create that scrapbook you have been thinking about building for years. I bet your pooch will help you pick up the mess! π
Take a long walk
5) Take a walk. Use this time to just enjoy being with your furry friend. Walking is such great bonding. Live in the country? Take a hike with your dogs.
Get ready for a disaster
6) Do you have your disaster kit ready? IF not, check out my article on prepping for disasters with your dog. It has a great list of items to get together just in case.
Time to play
7) Play with your dog. Hall fetch, Tug of War – Hide n Seek – Just interact and have fun together.
Make your dog an Instagram star
8) Create an Instagram for your dog. These are so fun and popular! You can follow Biscuit and our adventures crafting on Creek Dog Tails Instagram.
Teach your dog fun some new tricks
9) Teach your dog new tricks. Not sure where to start? I love the book – 101 Dog Tricks: Step by Step Activities to Engage, Challenge, and Bond with Your Dog. We have used it to teach Biscuit several fun tricks ( seat, shake, stay, down, speak ) Dog mom activities for posting on social!
Get Crafting
10) Are you a creative crafty dog mom? Break out the Cricut, Silhouette or embroidery machine. I started working on creating a purse today. Need inspiration – come join my crafty dog mom group on facebook.
Netflix and chill
11) Netflix and chill – Put on a great classic dog flick or a series and just enjoy each other’s company and maybe a bit of popcorn π
Time to Color
12) Love to color? There are so many options to print coloring sheets on the internet. Just google and get your crayons out! Plenty of dog mom designs!
Do some good
13) Looking to do more good? Prep some blessing bags. Put together little bags with toiletry items for people in need. Include some items for their pooch as well. Google up Blessing Bags for tons of ideas
Sniff and Search
14) Engage in a Sniff and Search activity. Hide fun treats around the house for your dog to find! Dog mom activities for fun and education!
Glamfur Shots
15) Do a mini photo shoot with your dog. Remember those fun hobby lobby photo challenge posts??? See what you can do fun around the house.
These are some great ideas to get you started. Use your time at home to really bond with your furry friends and enrich their lives. So many times they are just waiting for us to come home. My wife is a teacher too. We just found out that she will be working from home until at least May 1st so we’ll be we’ll be doing some of these suggestions. By the way, we’ll be trimming nails today π
