What is WRONG with me?
I can hear it in my head right now, “You have to fix your mindset if you want to be successful”. My response: Frustration, Irritation, and Bitterness, I feel personally attacked. It feels as personal as someone telling me they don’t like my body, my hair, my face OR ME! Is it really possible to just be happy and positive all of the time? Is there something WRONG with me?
Great – now I have another deficit that I need to overcome, but how in the world do I fix my mindset? Even more frustrating, the people that suggest that it needs to be fixed, have no “suggestions” on how to fix it apart from “just fix it”. It is not like there is some potion I can buy from Amazon or one of my many friends in Direct Sales that would fix it. This was me until I found Human Design. Running in circles, reading books, taking training, looking for any magic pill to FIX ME because clearly something is broken.
Riding the emotional wave
What if I told you that it was OK to have bad days and that some people actually were MEANT to ride an emotional wave? I am not saying that it is normal to be moody and sad all of the time, but I am also not saying that everyone is going to be happy and positive all of the time either.
You are not broken
If you feel like you are on an emotional roller coaster – It MIGHT just be you are designed this way – there is nothing WRONG with you! As a Projector with emotional authority, I have learned it is OK for me to retreat and allow the negative emotions to flow through me and release. There is NOTHING wrong with me and there is NOTHING to fix! I have learned during these periods, it is best for me to spend time alone to work through my emotions. This is completely normal for my design.
There is no magic “positive mindset” cure. In fact, some people are just designed differently and they are not required to ride their emotional waves and are unlikely to even have them! As long as I can work through my emotions and ride my emotional back to center, there is no reason to be concerned. It is only when the emotions completely control us and keep us moving forward that we need to be concerned. If you feel stuck, it might be time to work with a coach or counselor.
Mindset is important, but……
Don’t get me wrong – I do believe that mindset is important, but I believe that being true to our own unique design is most important. Allowing others to tell you who to be and how to be will never lead to your success. You have to give yourself grace. Take time to get to know your own feelings and emotions. You are 100% capable of being the BEST version of you and it will NEVER look like anyone else. Work on building a mindset that works well with your design and you will never go wrong.
