Is an allergy making your pet itchy? As a pet nutrition specialist, the one issue that I am asked to solve the MOST with cats or dogs is allergies! An itchy pet is an unhappy pet. If your pet is unhappy, you are unhappy! Depending on where your dog or cat sleeps, an itchy pet can really press pause on a good night’s sleep as well.
Although trying to determine what is causing your pet’s itch might take some trial and error, usually it is a result of some type of allergy. From food, to environment to fleas, dogs and cats can be allergic to many things just like humans. Solution 1: Topical (Dogs only)
Since it can be a challenge to determine the root cause of the allergy itch, it is always a good idea to have a topical solution on hand to help with the itch. Just like us, the more we itch, the more the area gets irritated and the more it will itch.
I always keep our amazing topical solution Skin Support Plus on hand in my pup’s medicine cabinet (sorry kitty, this one is NOT for you) for times they may have skin irritations, including itching and hot spots.
This soothing blend of tea tree oil, aloe vera and chamomile works synergistically to treat and ease the discomfort of environmental allergies, hot spots, abrasions and other skin problems in dogs. Poor quality, itchy coats are commonly seen in our pets today. One of the reasons is that they are not getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids. By increasing the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids, you will see an improvement in the quality of their coat and they won’t be as itchy.
