The surprising reason we “Embarked” on a Dog DNA Test. I have always loved Science. As a 7th grade Science teacher, one of my FAVORITE, and the kids fav units every year is genetics. It is something that we can ALL relate to – ourselves! Since I have a such a love and fascination for genetics, I really became interested in a dog DNA test for Biscuit.
As a dog mom, I find myself looking at my beautiful mutts and wondering why they are a certain color, have certain features, behave certain ways and just what is behind their amazing souls! I wondered if a Dog DNA Test would satisfy my curiosity to know more about my furry babies and give me some answer to all of those lingering questions about my pooch. So – what is the surprising reason why we decided to “embark” on this journey? Simply because I love him. 🙂
When Amazon Prime day arrived, I knew EXACTLY what I would be purchasing for Biscuit, A Dog DNA test from Embark Vet. The kit arrived super fast and the instructions were SUPER Easy to follow! Next thing I know, I get an email saying my results are ready! I have so much anticipation to learn more about my very best friend! I decided that rather than just look, I would make it a “thing” like people that have gender reveal parties and throw a BREED REVEAL Party for Biscuit!
I know to some people it might be ridiculous to pay $$ to find out my dog’s breed with a dog DNA test, but to me, it gives me just a glimpse into his very special soul. It changes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about him or how much I love him, it just allows me a chance to better understand him. Although every dog is ultimately unique, each breed comes with their own traits. It also gives me an excuse to throw a random party and celebrate my best friend, and as a dog mom. I know you can relate.
So RIGHT now I am impatiently waiting for the 30th of December to arrive. We will view our Dog DNA test results from Embark! This day is ALREADY special to me since 4 years ago on this day I first set eyes on my sweet boy in a shelter photo as a 6 week old puppers. The very next day, New Years Even, I drove 2 hours to go rescue him. This sweet boy has forever changed my life. He saved me in so many ways and has been my soulmate from the day I brought him home from the shelter. It seems fitting that 4 years later I will find out what DNA has created the MOST amazing dog on the planet.
