Finding my “Zen” with the Dog is Good Brand
Dog is Good walked into my life around 5 years ago. As a dog mom, I am always looking for ways to show love of my very favorite furry friends, particularly in public. I will never forget the day when I locked eyes with it. To some, a simple tote bag, but to me, it was the first moment that I KNEW that someone understood me. It was a point in my life that I decided to pivot. I knew that someday I wanted to inspire those around me with my love of dogs.
Dog is Good is one of those brands that just resonates with me. I admit that they initially caught my attention by my love of their products, but if you dig a bit deeper, you will see there is SO MUCH TO LOVE about this brand. Here are 5 reasons why I am obsessed with Dog is Good and if you are a dog mom, why you should be too!
Reason 1: Their Mascot is a Dog
Any dog will absolutely steal my attention, but a dog with a halo, now that is fun! If you are a dog mom, the idea of putting a halo on your dog is both enduring and ridiculous. Their dog in the logo is called, BOLO (Be On the Lookout) and in real life, a beautiful yellow lab, named BOLO, really runs the show at the company. ( I totally understand since one currently runs my house)
Reason 2: Dog is Culture
Clearly, Dog is Good has built an incredible culture of all thing dogs. I believe that is why so many of their product lines really speak to dog moms. Their love of dog is apparent in their products, their photos, their marketing, their employees and their owners. Gila, who co-owns the company with her husband, Jon, fell in love with dogs and became a dog trainer prior to starting Dog is Good. When you see Gila, you see Bolo following her! She has created a company that every dog mom should celebrate!
Reason 3: They pour into their community
As a dog mom, the reason I initially fell in love with Dog is Good was their amazing dog mom collections. However, as an animal advocate myself, I was impressed by their mission to “be a force for good” as they call it. They have several partner organizations they support that involve dogs (of course) and Veterans (Co-Owner Jon is a 27 year veteran of the Navy). You can read all about their many partnerships here.
Reason 4: They support their dog mom family
I have to admit the first time I met Gila virtually I was a little star struck. In the grand scheme of things, I am pretty small potatoes compared to the Dog is Good company, but they would never make you feel that way. As a wholesaler, I was invited to fun online Christmas parties and currently I am participating in the “Fur Covered Wisdom Program” based on her amazing book. They always find a way to connect with their people!
During this time of crises, instead of pouring into her own company, I continue to see Gila pour into all of the dog lovers that need her support. It’s an incredible act of altruism. She is on Zoom meetings encouraging and mentoring small business owners to help them build success personally and in their business. It is incredible how much she loves her dog mom community!
Reason 5: Dog is Good gets dog moms
If the first 4 amazing reasons were not enough to love Dog is Good, as a dog mom, I can’t ignore that this is the ONE company that “gets me”. Their collections just speak to my soul! From falling in love with my tote that boldly explains I am a dog mom and I DON’T have kids to my very favorite, Never Walk Alone, it is apparent they truly understand what is like to be a dog mom.
As a dog mom, with no kids, sometimes one of the most important things for me is to be understood. I LOVE that the Dog is Good brand is created for me. Simply put:
- It was created for the love of dogs
- It was created for people that love dogs
- It was created by people that love dogs
- It was created by people that love the people that love dogs
I am obsessed with Dog is Good and you should be too! As long as Gila and Dog is Good is out there – I know dog moms will never walk alone! – Keely –
